There are no specific requirements for entry to a BLS course. Anyone may enrol in a Basic Life Support course!

The aim of the BLS/AED provider course is to enable each candidate to gain competency in both delivery of BLS and use of an AED.

Literature
There is enough evidence to support the effectiveness of BLS training in students. Furthermore it seems that the majority of schools do not include BLS training. BLS training can and should be well organized, structured and evaluated.

Schoolchildren basic life support training has the potential to educate whole generations to respond to cardiac arrest and to increase survival after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Comprehensive legislation, curricula, and scientific assessment are crucial to further develop the education of schoolchildren in basic life support.
